The capture of all things naughty and nautical

The look of polka-dots, high-waisted hot pants and a captain’s hat are paired with pinup makeup and beach blown hair -

This trend has been charming its self into our hearts for years now, the nautical look seems to be something that inspires me more and more each year, adding further items to my collection of sailor girl inspired pieces.

This look can only remind me of the spring time, with its retro feel created by adding red lipstick this look is easily adapted to any style combination for day and night.  The colours associated with the nautical look, are tones of red, white and blue, sometimes you will see other tones of dark blue combinations even black (This is a great look with black trousers, team black and white stripe body with black trousers red lips and chunky heels.

Embellishments on garments seen within the trend are Anchors which are sometimes can be seen on tops, cardigans and hats, with the Eiffel tower sometimes being added to give a touch of the Parisian feel. Rope belts are also a big addition to the nautical trend wearing around black/navy Capri trousers, and a Bardot scoop neck stripe tee-shirt to give the utter pinup girl experience- Perfect! Love this trend!

My love for the high street has just increased dramatically. As I shopped over the weekend I could not get over the enormous effort the high street has gone to to provide an amazing creation of 70s Fashion.

Fashion designers have been taking their inspiration from the 70s for sometime now, but 2011 sees 70s-inspired fashion as a full-on trend on the high street, and its
everywhere!

The two types of 70s trend you can follow, Glamour or Boho, My favourite look of the 70s is all about lame gold jumpsuits and Halston dresses, as you may have gathered from my Studio 54 posts previously. But for the time being I am purly focussing on 70s Boho, and this trend is without a doubt the trend of the season.

H&M, River Island, Topshop, ASOS, and Warehouse have on all jumped on the 70s bandwagon, with the result of floaty maxi dress, broderie Anglais skirts, crochet bags, flared jeans the list goes on.

I have been prowling through my wardrobe recently to find some key pieces that I can bring out this season, to which I found a White Tailored Blazer, A crotchet dress, various floral maxi dresses and a a floppy brimmed hat, the only required purchase is a good pair of Tan Wedges! - I will be added the pair I found from Aldo very shortly!

Come on guys, Embrace  in that Brigitte Bardot 70s love!

Summer how it should be....

Nicole Richie Harper’s Bazaar

A great trend which expresses strong femininity is Bright Bright Bright!

I am a huge fan of wearing brights, and this season I'm going all out with my swimwear collection!- Love the fact you can mix and match the top and bottom to create a bolder look. I am not sure if you have seen the Lindsey Wixon photo shoot in British Vogue, which reveals the utter gorgeousness of Poolside brights, if not check it out, I adore this spread! - See above picture.

Bold block-colours ruled the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks, Splashes on neon's pinks, blues, and greens are great colours to throw into an outfit; if there's one rule to follow this season, it's the brighter, the better!

Go create! x

The Sky in London Town is Glorious!

My moment of creativity of Great British patriotism! London Town Style!

When people say, 'She's got everything' I've got one answer - I haven't had tomorrow- Elizabeth Taylor.

There is something ever so fashionable about bowling...

I love bowling, nether the less I'm still useless at it. I find it near impossible to even hit a skittle down; the balls seem to drift down the alley revealing a mere NIL POINTS on the score board- Boo! I still find the who bowling concept rather fascinating; not the playing as such, just the atmosphere, from the shoes, that people so call "hate" that they actually really love (Sliding around, wearing them with your ankle grazing jeans and a tee-shirt)- You know you look cool.

To the music, to the fast food and to the who team effort, girl’s v boys! I love bowling! I just wish I was a better competitor. Last year I visited a few bowling alleys, One in Brick Lane East London, and another in Bloomsbury Central London, where we met the mighty Serge from Kasabian!- Who ever said bowling wasn’t cool!

Check out the amazing shoot by Kevin Hagell Capturing the Popular 70s past time that I love love love!

If I could be...

Vogue China April 2011- Seaside Spring.

This is too wonderful for words. I am totally in awe with this shoot, Hans photography totally portrayed the strong but feminine feel of the shot. This is such a beautiful editorial piece.

With looks from labels such as Viktor & Rolf, Moschino, Alexander Wang  and more– This "white summer" feel really gives me a great enthusiasm for the summer ahead, I love gold costume jewelery; so this gives me great happiness to know that I can really play around with summer against the neutral whites of my shorts, shirts and blazer. Bring on the beach front!

Valentina

I am in love with these photographs shot by Nirrimi Hakanson titled  "Valentina"

I love all  photos with a 1950's/60's feel, not only is the processing beautiful, but the color scheme and the seductive shots with the male and female models are fantastic.

Here are a few of my favourites but do check out the full photographic story below.
